Update on Benicia Community Foundation (BCF) Dog Festival

​We would like to take a moment to thank Gual Culley and the entire Benicia Dog Festival committee for the incredible time, creativity, and energy they have poured into this event. The Dog Festival has been such a joyful gathering for our community, bringing smiles, laughter, and wagging tails to so many.

​Unfortunately, following a few concerning incidents at the last Dog Festival, BCF was unable to secure insurance coverage through our carrier for incidents involving dog bites. On the advice of our insurance provider and local agencies, and without that essential coverage, the liability risks were considered too great for us to continue responsibly. Our priority must always be the safety and well-being of our community and our residents.

We are truly disappointed by this outcome. Still, we remain deeply grateful for the opportunity we’ve had to sponsor and for the dedication of Gual and the committee in creating such a special community event.

From all of us at BCF — thank you for the memories, the joy, and the celebration of community.  We look forward to exploring other ways to work together on future events that bring people together and continue to celebrate the spirit of Benicia.
